The Alvin Church of God is a Spirit -filled, family friendly, Bible centered congregation that has been serving Vermilion County Illinois from the small town of Alvin since 1936. We are in partnership with the world's oldest continuing Spirit filled organization, the Church of God with international headquarters in Cleveland TN. This gives us a rich heritage and a world wide impact to parallel our community commitment.
Our vision at the Alvin Church of God is to be a church where you can believe for anything; where you can belong; and where you can become all that God wants you to be in an atmosphere of His unconditional love.
We are devoted to spiritual and personal growth through the avenues of the Word of God, prayer, worship, fellowship, discipleship, and Christian service.
We are devoted to spiritual and personal growth through the avenues of the Word of God, prayer, worship, fellowship, discipleship, and Christian service.

We believe in:
1. The verbal inspiration of the Bible.
2. One God eternally existing in three persons; namely the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit
3. That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary; and Jesus was crucified, buried,
raised from the dead, and ascended to heaven to be at the right hand of the Father.
4. That all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that repentance is commanded of God for all, and it is necessary for the forgiveness of sins.
5. That justification, regeneration, and the new birth are wrought by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.
6. In sanctification after the new birth through faith in the blood of Jesus, and the Word of God, and by the work of the Holy Spirit.
7. In holiness as God's standard of living for His people.
8. In the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
9. That speaking in tongues is the initial evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
10. In water baptism by immersion in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
11. Divine healing is provided in the Atonement.
12. In the Lord's Supper and the washing of the saint's feet.
13. In the premillennial second coming of Christ, First, to resurrect the righteous dead and to catch away the living saints. Second, to reign on the earth for 1,000 years.
14. In the bodily resurrection, eternal life for the righteous, and eternal punishment for the wicked.
